Baseball Recap: Lake Norman Takes a Loss

Lake Norman lost against South Iredell back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Wildcats fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 4-3.

Lake Norman got a good showing from Eric Jacobsen, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Jacobsen has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lake Norman saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carson Horsefall, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Lake Norman's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 10-5. As for South Iredell, they pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Lake Norman and South Iredell should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. The Wildcats will square off against Palisades at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank advantage (66 vs. 210). Meanwhile, South Iredell (ranked 84th) will meet Mallard Creek (ranked 377th) at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
