Basketball Game Preview: High Point Academy Grizzlies vs. Upstate HomeSchool Bearcats

The High Point Academy Grizzlies will take on the Upstate HomeSchool Bearcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. High Point Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 15 contests -- so hopefully Upstate HomeSchool likes a good challenge.

Last Monday, High Point Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Easley, but they still walked away with a 74-69 victory. Given the Grizzlies' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 21st, while the Green Wave are ranked 86th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

High Point Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chonci Miller, who went 8 for 11 en route to 21 points and six rebounds. Those 21 points gave Miller a new career-high. Trapp Morman was another key player, going 6 of 10 on his way to 16 points along with eight assists and five boards.

High Point Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 27 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Easley only racked up 14 assists.

Meanwhile, Upstate HomeSchool came into Thursday's game having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against Lighthouse Christian Academy by a score of 58-47 on Thursday.

High Point Academy's victory bumped their record up to 17-2. As for Upstate HomeSchool, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.
