Recap: Litchfield Purple Panthers vs. Calhoun Warriors

It was a good run, but the Litchfield Purple Panthers unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to Calhoun 63-59. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

Several Purple Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Victor Mcgill, who scored 25 points along with five assists and three steals. Mcgill hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Keenan Powell, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Litchfield's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Calhoun, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Litchfield is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Mt. Olive at 7:00 p.m. on January 2nd. Mt. Olive will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 757th, while Litchfield is ranked 330th). Calhoun and Gillespie will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Gillespie is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
