Basketball Recap: Rocksprings Finds Home Court Redemption Against Comstock

There's no place like home for Rocksprings, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They secured a 63-59 W over the Comstock Panthers on Tuesday. This was a revenge game for the Angoras: when they faced off against the Panthers back in January, they had to take a 53-36 defeat.

Rocksprings had a senior duo take command as Hunter Taylor dropped a double-double with 23 points and 14 boards and Roy Estrada went 8 for 11 en route to 22 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Taylor's evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Dwayne Rivera was another key player, putting up eight points and five rebounds.

Rocksprings smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive contests.

When it comes to explaining why Comstock lost, don't look at Creed Hardin. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 22 points and 13 boards. The dominant performance gave Hardin a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jerry Ibarra, who posted 13 points and four steals.

Rocksprings is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 11-13 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.4 points over those games. As for Comstock, their loss dropped their record down to 16-13.
