Baseball Recap: George Washington Patriots vs. Northfield Nighthawks

After flying high against Harrison last Tuesday, George Washington came back down to earth. The Patriots lost 16-5 to the Northfield Nighthawks on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Nighthawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-4 back in March.

Diego Varela put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double.
