Basketball Recap: Emerald Comes Up Short

Emerald was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They took a 53-35 bruising from the Fountain Inn Fury. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Fury this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 62-28 back in January.

Despite the defeat, Emerald saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jurnee Williams almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine boards. Williams has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Ketorey Brown was another key player, putting up seven points.

Zipora Sullivan went supernova for Fountain Inn, going 8 for 17 to rack up 21 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. What's more, Sullivan also posted a 47% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lexi Fuller, who posted eight points and seven boards.

Emerald's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Fountain Inn, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Laurens the next time they take the court. Fountain Inn will host Laurens at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Emerald will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
