Baseball Recap: Santa Ynez's Losing Streak Snapped at Seven Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mission College Prep, Santa Ynez was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They came out on top against the Channel Islands Raiders by a score of 5-1. The victory was some much needed relief for the Pirates as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Elijah Roberts spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jaxon Glover, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Santa Ynez's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Channel Islands, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.

Santa Ynez will face off against Bishop Diego at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Channel Islands, they will challenge Royal at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Royal's pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so Channel Islands' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
