Baseball Game Preview: Lincoln Hornets vs. Hoover Cardinals

The Lincoln Hornets will take on the Hoover Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Lincoln's favor as the team sits on six straight wins at home while Hoover has been banged up by eight consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Lincoln let High Tech SD stack five runs on them in the fifth inning on Thursday but luckily Lincoln prevailed anyway. The Hornets narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Storm 8-6. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Storm recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Hoover hadn't done well against Kearny recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Cardinals came out on top against the Komets by a score of 6-5 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cardinals have posted since March 25, 2024.

Hoover saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jason Sanchez, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Hoover's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-18. As for Lincoln, their victory bumped their record up to 12-7.

Everything went Lincoln's way against Hoover in their previous matchup back in May of 2023, as Lincoln made off with a 27-0 win. Do the Hornets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cardinals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
