Baseball Game Preview: Hudson Hornets vs. Bullard Panthers

For the second straight game, Hudson will face off against Bullard. The Hornets will head out on the road to face off against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Hudson 2, Bullard 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Bullard's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Tuesday: Hudson hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Hornets' pitcher stepped up to hand the Panthers a 1-0 shutout on Friday.

The result came thanks to Ceylan Williams's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hudson's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ace Horan, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles. Those two doubles gave Horan a new career-high.

Hudson has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Bullard, they moved to 18-8 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Hudson has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Bullard struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
