Baseball Recap: Nash Central Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

Nash Central never let their opponents score on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Rocky Mount Gryphons. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Gryphons: they've now won seven in a row.

Caleb Cox looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tyler Bowen, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Tanner Moss, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Nash Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rocky Mount only posted an OBP of .304.

Nash Central's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Rocky Mount, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Nash Central is set to face off against their familiar foe Bunn at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bulldogs 3.1, the Wildcats 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Rocky Mount will challenge rival Franklinton at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
