Basketball Game Preview: Penn Cambria Panthers vs. Bishop Guilfoyle Marauders

Penn Cambria hasn't had much luck against Bishop Guilfoyle recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Penn Cambria Panthers will take on the Bishop Guilfoyle Marauders at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Penn Cambria sitting on six straight victories and Bishop Guilfoyle on 16.

Penn Cambria is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They took down Tyrone 67-50.

Penn Cambria got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Blake Lilly out in front who went 5-for-10 on his way to 16 points along with five boards and three steals. Lilly continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Caden Gibbons, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Bishop Guilfoyle didn't have too much trouble with Central Cambria on Friday as they won 69-52. Given the Marauders' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while the Red Devils are ranked 202nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bishop Guilfoyle pushed their record up to 21-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.4 points over those games. As for Penn Cambria, their record is now 14-8.

Penn Cambria lost to Bishop Guilfoyle on the road by a decisive 77-63 margin when the teams last played back in January. Can Penn Cambria avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
