Marcos de Niza is on a five-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Coconino is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Padres will host the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Marcos de Niza had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt Moon Valley on Friday. The Padres blew past the Rockets 19-3. The Padres' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Leila Rodriguez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
In other batting news, Alaina Tavena was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Sophia Franco, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Coconino never let their opponents score on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over Poston Butte.
The result came thanks to Kaitlyn Tso's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 14 Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Destiny Villas, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Cassidey Castillo was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Coconino has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Marcos de Niza, their victory bumped their record up to 10-0.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Marcos de Niza hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .402. However, it's not like Coconino struggles in that department as they've averaged .364. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Marcos de Niza might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Coconino when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Padres have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
