Soccer Game Preview: American Fork vs. Pleasant Grove

The American Fork Cavemen are taking a road trip to challenge the Pleasant Grove Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

American Fork is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Lone Peak, who was ranked first at the time (American Fork was ranked fourth). The Cavemen fell just short of the Knights by a score of 2-1 on Wednesday. The game was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but American Fork couldn't quite close it out.

Meanwhile, Pleasant Grove fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Lehi on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Pioneers by a score of 3-2. Pleasant Grove's defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it five in a row.

American Fork's loss dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Pleasant Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.

American Fork skirted past Pleasant Grove 2-1 in their previous matchup back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cavemen since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
