Volleyball Recap: Escalante Comes Up Short

Escalante was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Jal Panthers.

Escalante took Jal into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking six-point loss. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-19, 23-25, 25-17, 15-9.

Xavanni Rivas paced Escalante's offense, picking up 18 kills. Rivas got some help from Elexia Trejo and her 36 assists. Trejo was also solid from the service line: she led the team with eight aces.

Escalante's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Jal, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Escalante wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Mescalero Apache on the 23rd. As for Jal, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-1 win against Dora on the 23rd.
