The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Sam Lionberger, who went 6 for 7 on his way to 19 points and five assists. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Boston James was another key player, going 7 of 10 en route to 17 points.
Lionberger wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Rock Springs was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Kelly Walsh's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 50-49 to Star Valley.
Like Kelly Walsh, they lost despite seeing results from several players. Carter Alvar led the charge by putting up eight points and six rebounds. Alvar is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jack Nicholls, who posted ten points.
Rock Springs has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.4 points per game. As for Kelly Walsh, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Rock Springs has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.8 boards per game. However, it's not like Kelly Walsh struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.4 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
