Baseball Recap: Morgantown Falls Short Against Ranked Parkersburg South

Morgantown faced Parkersburg South in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Mohigans fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 5-4. Mohigans fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Patriots since on Tuesday.

Vincent Aloi was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Weston Mazey was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.

This is the second loss in a row for Morgantown and nudges their season record down to 7-5. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for Parkersburg South, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Morgantown has already played their next match, a 19-4 win against University on the 9th. As for Parkersburg South, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 5-1 victory against Cabell Midland on the 9th.
