Lakewood has gone 8-2 against Newark Catholic recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Lancers will look to defend their home field against the Green Wave at 5:00 p.m. Lakewood's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Newark Catholic's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Lakewood is headed into the matchup having just suffered their closest defeat since April 22, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of Highland by a score of 5-3.

Lakewood saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anna Crist, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Newark Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 16-15 heartbreaker at the hands of Utica. Even though they lost, the Green Wave's still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.8 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Avery Sullivan (2027) and Addi Gerber (2025) did some serious damage despite the final result: Sullivan (2027) went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double, while Gerber (2025) went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that Gerber (2025) has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Lohri (2025), who went 4-for-6 with two RBI and one run.

Newark Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Lakewood, their loss dropped their record down to 14-2.

Lakewood took their victory against Newark Catholic when the teams last played on April 7th by a conclusive 6-0 score. Do the Lancers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Green Wave turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
