Softball Recap: Lake Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Lake came tearing into Friday's match with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Hoover Vikings get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Not much got past Gianna Greathouse, who gave up just five hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Hoover off the board. Greathouse has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Courtney Kohli was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikayla Props, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Lake's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Hoover, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-9 record this season.

Lake has already played their next contest, a 5-4 loss against Green on the 12th. As for Hoover, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Jackson on the 13th.
