The Classical Academy Caimans will face off against the Foothills Christian Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
On Tuesday, Classical Academy came up short against San Marcos and fell 3-1. While the Caimans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Knights 25-20 in the first set.
Classical Academy started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 25-23, 25-20, 26-24.
Joshua Marion put forth a good effort for the losing side as he had 27 assists.
Meanwhile, Foothills Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Clairemont, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Knights have suffered since April 8th.
While Foothills Christian ultimately came up short, they really made Clairemont work, particularly in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 29-27, 25-18, 25-21.
Foothills Christian's loss dropped their record down to 16-12. As for Classical Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-11.
Everything went Classical Academy's way against Foothills Christian in their previous matchup back in March, as Classical Academy made off with a 3-0 victory. Will the Caimans repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
