Basketball Game Preview: Edgewood Cougars vs. Monroe Hornets

Edgewood hasn't had much luck against Monroe recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Edgewood Cougars will venture away from home to take on the Monroe Hornets at 7:15 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Edgewood is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Madison: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Edgewood blew Madison out of the water with a 69-34 final score. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Cougars had established a 34 point advantage.

Meanwhile, Monroe earned a 58-51 win over Waynesville on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hornets.

Edgewood is also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Monroe, their victory bumped their record up to 13-6.

Edgewood came up short against Monroe in their previous matchup back in January, falling 50-42. Can Edgewood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
