Basketball Game Preview: Maple Mountain Golden Eagles vs. Spanish Fork Dons

Maple Mountain is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Friday. They will head out on the road to square off against the Spanish Fork Dons at 7:00 p.m. Maple Mountain is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.5 points per game this season.

Maple Mountain not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since December 12, 2024 (when they won 74-33). They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Granger 72-34. The Golden Eagles pushed the score to 51-30 by the end of the third, a deficit the Lancers had little chance of recovering from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Maple Mountain to victory, but perhaps none more so than Solomon Krommenhoek, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 16 points. Krommenhoek continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Nash Jackson, who posted eight points and 12 boards.

Maple Mountain was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Spanish Fork had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They strolled past Hunter with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 61-47.

Maple Mountain's record now sits at 5-1. As for Spanish Fork, their record is now 2-6.

Maple Mountain and Spanish Fork were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in January, but Maple Mountain came up empty-handed after a 48-47 defeat. Can the Golden Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
