Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Clay

Clay entered their tilt with South Paulding on Friday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the South Paulding Spartans with a sharp 10-2 win. Considering the Blue Devils have won five matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Easton McMahan made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other pitching news, Gabriel Barker looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Back at the plate, JC Rosette and Cole Carnell did most of the damage at the plate: Rosette scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Carnell scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance gave Rosette a new career-high in stolen bases. Tyler Gunsalus was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

Clay's record is now 6-2. As for South Paulding, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-2.

Looking ahead, Clay will face off against Mary Persons at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. South Paulding has already played their next game (against Ridgeview), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
