Soccer Game Preview: Athens Academy vs. Oglethorpe County

The Athens Academy Spartans will square off against the Oglethorpe County Patriots at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Athens Academy sitting on five straight victories and Oglethorpe County on three.

Athens Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. Their defense stepped up to hand Banks County a 9-0 shutout on Friday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Athens Academy's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 78th, while Banks County are ranked 339th).

Meanwhile, Oglethorpe County had just enough and edged out Elbert County 3-2 on Friday.

Oglethorpe County's win bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Athens Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.

Athens Academy got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in March of 2025 against Oglethorpe County by a conclusive 7-0 score. Do the Spartans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Patriots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
