Basketball Recap: Easton Foster's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Monroe Central over Eastern Hancock

Monroe Central played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 74-54 to the Eastern Hancock Royals. The Golden Bears haven't had much luck with the Royals recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Monroe Central's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Easton Foster, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards. Foster is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last ten games he's played. Another player making a difference was Luke Morgan, who posted 16 points.

It was another big night for Caden Powers, who went 8 of 12 en route to 22 points and eight boards for Eastern Hancock. Landyn Loring was another key player, going 6 for 13 on his way to 19 points.

Monroe Central's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 9-3. As for Eastern Hancock, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Monroe Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 68-63 loss against Blackford on the 25th. As for Eastern Hancock, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 59-47 defeat against Shenandoah on the 25th.
