Wayne is on a four-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Sissonville a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Monday. The Wayne Pioneers will welcome the Sissonville Indians at 6:00 p.m.
Wayne is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest defeat since April 24, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of Scott by a score of 7-5.
Kylee Copley made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Alexa Bishop was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Sissonville brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They never let Ripley get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory on Friday. The win was some much needed relief for the Indians as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Emma Lester made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Ana Soblit and Lydia Ellis did most of the damage at the plate: Soblit went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Ellis went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Ellis has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Allison Jarrett, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Sissonville lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Sissonville's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Wayne, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 2-4.
Wayne skirted past Sissonville 7-6 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will Wayne repeat their success, or does Sissonville has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
