Basketball Recap: San Tan Foothills Takes a Loss

San Tan Foothills played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Payson Longhorns and fell 62-12. The Sabercats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-8.

Alianna Taylor was San Tan Foothills' leading scorer, having posted seven points. Cienna Witcher took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Payson had a senior duo take command as Mylee Redford went 6 of 12 on her way to 17 points and Hannah Sarnowski went 6 for 11 on her way to 13 points in addition to six boards and four steals. That's the most points Redford has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace DeSchaaf, who posted six points and nine rebounds.

San Tan Foothills now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Payson, they pushed their record up to 14-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

The future could be bright for both San Tan Foothills and Payson: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. San Tan Foothills will try to hand Benjamin Franklin their third-straight loss when the two meet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Payson will try to hand Bourgade Catholic their seventh-straight defeat when the two meet at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
