SouthWest Edgecombe skates past North Lenoir with ease

Recap: SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars vs. North Lenoir Hawks

There's no place like home for the SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Tuesday. They breezed by North Lenoir at home to the tune of 64-23. With that victory, SouthWest Edgecombe brought their scoring average up to 56.5 points per game.

SouthWest Edgecombe's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but K'Deidra (KD) Collins led the charge by scoring 16 points along with nine assists and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Moore Mackenzie, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds.

Loss or not, North Lenoir got some senior leadership from Shamaya Lynch who scored nine points and Ricayla Warren who scored nine points. Lynch scored a full 39.1% of North Lenoir's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

SouthWest Edgecombe pushed their record up to 1-1 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.4 points per game. As for North Lenoir, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. SouthWest Edgecombe will face off against Nash Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Nash Central is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games. As for North Lenoir, they will head out on the road to face off against Greene Central at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Greene Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Friday.
