Recap: Archbishop Bergan Knights vs. Lincoln Christian Crusaders
Even though the Archbishop Bergan Knights have not done well against the Lincoln Christian Crusaders recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Archbishop Bergan strolled past Lincoln Christian with points to spare, taking the game 77-60. Given Archbishop Bergan's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 74th, while Lincoln Christian is ranked 238th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Archbishop Bergan's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dawson Pruss, who scored 22 points. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Eggen, who scored 17 points.
Archbishop Bergan's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.4 points per game. As for Lincoln Christian, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
Archbishop Bergan will be home for the holidays to greet Parkview Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Parkview Christian's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for Lincoln Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Scotus at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Scotus is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
