Baseball Recap: Shaler Area Drops Season-High Score on New Castle

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Shaler Area). Everything went their way against the New Castle Hurricanes on Monday as they made off with a 14-3 win. The Titans haven't had any issues with the Hurricanes recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Dante Deleonibus looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Shaler Area let Brendan Fitzgerald and Kaleb Jockel run wild. Fitzgerald went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, while Jockel went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those two RBI gave Fitzgerald a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Bauer, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

Shaler Area hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive games.

Shaler Area's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for New Castle, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.

Shaler Area will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Hurricanes: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
