Basketball Game Preview: Kirbyville Wildcats vs. Hardin Hornets

The Kirbyville Wildcats are taking a road trip to face off against the Hardin Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Kirbyville has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 6.

It was a proper cat-fight when Kirbyville duked it out withKountze on Tuesday. Kirbyville took a blow against Kountze, falling 88-13. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1502nd, while the Lions are ranked 63rd).

Meanwhile, Hardin played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt an 83-29 defeat at the hands of East Chambers. The Hornets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-16.

Kirbyville's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Hardin, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Kirbyville was able to grind out a solid victory over Hardin when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 62-52. The rematch might be a little tougher for Kirbyville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
