Baseball Recap: Gainesville Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Gainesville can now relate to. They fell just short of the Matanzas Pirates by a score of 5-3 on Monday. The Hurricanes just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Gainesville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chris Eckhardt, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The Hurricanes are 6-2 when Eckhardt posts two or more runs, but 1-10 otherwise.

Gainesville's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Matanzas, they moved to 2-23 with that win, which also ended their 14-game losing streak.
