Softball Recap: General Mclane Wins Going Away Against North East

General McLane hadn't done well against North East recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Lancers put the hurt on the Grape Pickers with a sharp 10-2 victory. This was payback for the Lancers, who suffered a 14-8 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Makayla Rapela was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024. Avery Lorah was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: General McLane kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.8 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 13.2.

The win made it two in a row for General McLane and bumps their season record up to 5-12-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for North East, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-14.

Looking ahead, General McLane will challenge Meadville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lancers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season. As for North East, they will face off against Northwestern at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
