Baseball Recap: Marian Central Catholic Triumphs

It's playoff time, and Marian Central Catholic had no trouble coming through when it counted. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the Genoa-Kingston Cogs on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hurricanes.

Adam Wrzos spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up seven Ks. Marian Central Catholic is 2-1 when Wrzos allows one or fewer earned runs, but 9-23 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Marian Central Catholic's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Colin Kowalsky, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Kowalsky has posted since back in April.

Marian Central Catholic's win bumped their record up to 11-24. As for Genoa-Kingston, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-19 record this season.

As of now, neither Marian Central Catholic nor Genoa-Kingston have any future games scheduled.
