Volleyball Recap: McCook Bison vs. Northwest Vikings
After flying high against Lexington on Tuesday, McCook came back down to earth. The McCook Bison lost 3-0 to the Northwest Vikings on Wednesday. The Bison have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
While McCook ultimately came up short, they really made Northwest work, particularly in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 26-24, 25-22.
Jaylea Walgren paced McCook's offense, picking up ten kills. Walgren got some help from
Karstyn Porter and her 25 assists. Finally,
Abby Renner kept McCook's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.
Northwest can attribute much of their success to Jacey Knapp, who had 12 digs. Knapp has been hot , having posted 12 or more digs the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Halle Rice, who had 11 digs.
McCook's defeat dropped their record down to 16-18. As for Northwest, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 27-8.
McCook does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Northwest has already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against Bennington on the 2nd.
