Basketball Recap: Longmont Trojans vs. Centaurus Warriors

On Thursday, the Longmont Trojans's game was all tied up 18-18 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They managed a 42-36 win over Centaurus. That's another feather in the cap for Longmont, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.

Longmont's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joey Foot, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Levi Scheck, who scored 13 points along with four steals.

When it comes to explaining why Centaurus lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sam Esposito. Despite the final result, he scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Nasca, who scored two points along with two steals.

Even though they lost, Centaurus smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Longmont only pulled down five offensive rebounds.

Longmont's victory bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Centaurus, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Longmont will take on the Mavericks at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Mead is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Centaurus, they will be playing at home against the Spartans at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Allowing an average of 68.8 points per game, Greeley West has struggled on the defensive end, but that doesn't have to be the case in this matchup.
