Basketball Recap: Hooper Academy's Loss Ends 12-Game Winning Streak at Home

Hooper Academy entered their matchup against Bessemer Academy on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Hooper Academy Colts fell 70-58 to the Bessemer Academy Rebels.

It was another big night for Joshua Thompson, who went 8 for 20 on his way to 24 points along with six boards and six steals for Bessemer Academy. Thompson's afternoon made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Jacob Brister was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to nine assists and six rebounds.

Hooper Academy's defeat ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 18-2. As for Bessemer Academy, they pushed their record up to 12-1 with the victory, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Hooper Academy has already played their next contest (against Crenshaw Christian Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Bessemer Academy will head out on the road to face off against Banks Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
