Softball Game Preview: Academy of the Holy Names Jaguars vs. Robinson Knights

The Academy of the Holy Names Jaguars will take on the Robinson Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Robinson took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Academy of the Holy Names, who comes in off a win.

Academy of the Holy Names is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Friday. They came out on top against Land O' Lakes by a score of 5-2. The Jaguars haven't had any issues with the Gators recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Taylor Williams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up six Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Academy of the Holy Names saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elise McQuiston, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. Another was Ava LaBarbera, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Robinson lost 12-2 to Gaither on Tuesday. The Knights haven't had much luck with the Cowboys recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
