Baseball Game Preview: Englewood Stem Panthers vs. Chicago Vocational Cavaliers

For the second straight game, Englewood Stem will face off against Chicago Vocational. The Panthers will venture away from home to square off against the Cavaliers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Englewood Stem's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Chicago Vocational 8-0. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Cavaliers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Dejohne Luckett made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time he's pitched this season. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Taylor Robinson-Broger and Luis Romero did most of the damage at the plate: Robinson-Broger went 1-for-2 with four stolen bases and two runs, while Romero went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Englewood Stem now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Chicago Vocational, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-1.
