Baseball Recap: Logan Has No Trouble Against Grady

Logan barely beat Grady the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Longhorns blew past the Bronchos 12-2 on Friday. The Longhorns might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.

Kale Griffiths was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Griffiths was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Logan let Aydin Kotara and Devin Kotara run wild. Aydin went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases and three runs, while Devin got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases Aydin has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Mason Wallin, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Logan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory made it two in a row for Logan and bumps their season record up to 10-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Grady, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.

Logan and Grady are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Longhorns will be playing at home against Elida at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.79 runs per game on average), something Logan will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Grady, they will take on Melrose at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday. The Bronchos' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Buffaloes have averaged an impressive 13.1 runs per game this season.
