Softball Recap: Clarksville Victorious

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Clarksville ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over the Austin Eagles. For the Generals, this counts as revenge for the 11-0 victory the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2023.

Aaliyah Watts spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on eight hits and racked up 12 Ks. Those 12 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Bailey Senior, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

Clarksville has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Austin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clarksville will venture away from home to square off against Henryville at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Austin, they will square off against North Harrison at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
