Basketball Recap: Groveton Comes Up Short

Groveton lost against Grapeland back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Groveton Indians were dealt a 74-13 defeat at the hands of the Grapeland Sandies. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1415th, while the Sandies are ranked 310th).

Ty Torregrossa was Groveton's leading scorer, having posted seven points. Josiah Allen held things down on the boards with six rebounds. Ruger Mclain took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Groveton is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-10. As for Grapeland, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Groveton will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Centerville at 2:30 p.m. on December 31st. As for Grapeland, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 67-58 win against Buffalo on the 27th.
