Baseball Recap: Andrews Find Success

Andrews let Barnwell stack five runs on them in the second inning on Tuesday but luckily Andrews prevailed anyway. The Yellowjackets sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 victory over the Warhorses. This was a revenge game for the Yellowjackets: when they faced off against the Warhorses on Tuesday, they had to take a 6-3 defeat.

Andrews got a great performance from Reece Barrineau as he pitched 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Maddux Cooper and Jaxon Baker did most of the damage at the plate: Cooper went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Baker got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Cooper is becoming a predictor of Andrews' success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 8-10-2 when he doesn't). Sloan Harper was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs.

Andrews is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-10-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Barnwell, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 19-10.

As of now, neither Andrews nor the Warhorses have any future games scheduled.
