Baseball Recap: Manchester Wins Going Away Against Clay

Manchester won the last time they faced Clay and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Greyhounds were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Panthers.

Traevyn Hilderbrand was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Thomas Barnhart was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Luke Applegate was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

The win got Manchester back to even at 1-1. As for Clay, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Manchester will welcome Fairfield at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Clay, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Notre Dame at 5:00 p.m.
