Soccer Game Preview: Nazareth Academy vs. De La Salle

The Nazareth Academy Roadrunners will venture away from home to face off against the De La Salle Meteors at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Nazareth Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They put the hurt on Intrinsic Charter School Downtown Campus with a sharp 6-0 win. The match marked Nazareth Academy's most dominant victory of the season.

Their offense was hitting Intrinsic Charter School Downtown Campus from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal.

Meanwhile, De La Salle won against St. Rita last Friday with three goals and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Wednesday. The Meteors came out on top against Curie by a score of 3-1. The final result isn't all that surprising considering De La Salle's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 16th, while Curie are ranked 260th).

De La Salle is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-3-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 31 goals over those 12 contests. As for Nazareth Academy, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 4-17.

Nazareth Academy beat De La Salle 3-1 in their previous meeting back in September of 2015. Do the Roadrunners have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Meteors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
