Volleyball Game Preview: Hickory Hornets vs. Sharon Tigers

The Hickory Hornets are taking a road trip to face off against the Sharon Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hickory will be strutting in after a win while Sharon will be coming in after a loss.

Sharon will be up against a hot Hickory squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Hornets walked away with a 3-1 victory over Oil City on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Sharon unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-match winning streak on Thursday. They lost 3-0 to Slippery Rock. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Tigers have suffered since October 15, 2024.

While Sharon was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-23, 25-20.

Hickory will need to focus on slowing down Emmalie Yobe, one of several Sharon players who made an impact when they last played. She had 19 assists and seven digs. Yobe is crushing it when it comes to assists: she's posted at least 14 every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dani Currie, who had 15 digs and three assists.

Hickory's win bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Sharon, their loss dropped their record down to 12-5-1.

Everything went Hickory's way against Sharon when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as Hickory made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
