Basketball Game Preview: Victory Christian Academy Knights vs. Viewmont Vikings

The Victory Christian Academy Knights will take on the Viewmont Vikings in a holiday battle at at 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Victory Christian Academy is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Vincent Memorial: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Victory Christian Academy blew Vincent Memorial out of the water with an 89-49 final score. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Knights had established a 29 point advantage.

Victory Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Angel Ochoa led the charge by going 10 for 18 on his way to 25 points and five rebounds. The contest was Ochoa's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Gray, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 assists.

Victory Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 28 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

Meanwhile, Viewmont was able to grind out a solid victory over Fremont on Thursday, taking the game 56-44.

Victory Christian Academy better keep an eye on Drezdon Jensen. He was instrumental in Viewmont's win, putting up 25 points and five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Jensen has scored at least a third of Viewmont's points. Lloyd Williamson was another key player, posting 11 points.

The win got Viewmont back to even at 3-3. As for Victory Christian Academy, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Victory Christian Academy hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 69.3 points per game. However, it's not like Viewmont struggles in that department as they've been averaging 56.5 points.
