Preview: Wilson Mules vs. Lincoln Tigers
Wilson is 2-7 against Lincoln since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Wilson Mules will head out on the road to face off against the Lincoln Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Wilson got themselves on the board against Torres, but Torres never followed suit. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 42-0 win over the Toros. The victory was just what Wilson needed coming off of a 41-0 defeat in their prior match.
Dario Perez was the offensive standout of the contest as he threw for 121 yards and three touchdowns on only nine passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Anthony Haro also deserves a shout-out for his three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, even though Eagle Rock scored an imposing 47 points last Thursday, Lincoln still came out on top. Lincoln narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Eagle Rock 49-47. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Lincoln.
Kenneth Brown had a dynamite game for Lincoln, rushing for 175 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.7 yards per carry. Andrew Ayon was another major influence, as he rushed for 58 yards and ran in a TD.
Wilson now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Lincoln, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Wilson was dealt a bruising 56-0 loss at the hands of Lincoln in their previous matchup back in September of 2022. Can Wilson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
