            Basketball Recap: Liberty Tree Academy War Eagles vs. Calhan Bulldogs        
        
		
        
        
            If Liberty Tree Academy was riding high  fresh off their  58-12 takedown of Poudre Community Academy last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Liberty Tree Academy War Eagles were  outmatched by the Calhan Bulldogs and fell  71-26. While losing is never fun, the War Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings  (they are ranked 320th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 156th).
 Calhan was led to victory by  Kailey Peterson and  Willow Levicki.  Peterson  went 7-for-8  en route to 18 points in addition to seven  steals and six  rebounds, while  Levicki  went 7-for-8  on her way to 14  points and eight  steals. Peterson has become a key player for Calhan: the team is 7-3 when she posts  at  least  five  steals, but 2-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was  Fallyn Mallette, who  went 6-for-8  to rack up 13  points and three  steals.
Liberty Tree Academy's defeat was  their third straight on the road, which  dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Calhan, they have  been performing  well recently as they've  won three of their last four matchups,  which provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record  this season.
 Liberty Tree Academy has already played their next game,  a  33-31  loss against Ascent Classical Academy on the 13th. As for Calhan, they also  didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next  contest,  a  44-40  win against Crowley County on the 15th.
