Baseball Game Preview: Valley Rams vs. Elmore County Panthers

For the second straight game, Valley will face off against Elmore County. The Rams will head out to challenge the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Valley's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Elmore County's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Valley's offense. They came up short against Elmore County on Tuesday, falling 8-0. The Rams haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Valley got a good showing from Austin Barber, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matthew McDonald, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base. Aj Harper also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Elmore County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-13 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-8-1.
