Softball Recap: Central Falls' Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Central Falls had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past the North Providence Cougars 13-4 on Thursday.

Crystal De Jesus Lara made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. De Jesus Lara was also solid in the batter's box, earning one RBI, two runs, and two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, LC Collins and Chaelys Brito Acevedo did most of the damage at the plate: Collins went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Brito Acevedo went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Brito Acevedo has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Elva Moreira, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Central Falls kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Central Falls' victory bumped their record up to 5-9. As for North Providence, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Central Falls wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 26-15 loss against Middletown on the 12th. As for North Providence, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 11-0 defeat against Toll Gate on the 12th.
